Organizations Join Forces to Provide Needy Kids with Health Screenings, School Check-Ups and Backpacks Full of School Supplies
2nd Annual Back to School Health Fair
WENTZVILLE, MO - Crider Health Center, the Salvation Army, Calvary Church West, NECAC, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and other local organizations will again join forces to put on the 2nd Annual Back to School Health Fair Friday, July 23, 2010, 10 am – 1 pm at Calvary Church West to benefit the under resourced families in Lincoln County.
Last year, over 1,000 attended this free event and 500 children received backpacks full of school supplies. Families also received health screenings, school check-ups, lunch, face paintings, and free hair-cuts.
This year’s event features free school check-ups and health screenings by Crider Health Center including dental, vision and lead. 600 backpacks with school supplies will be handed out on a first come, first serve basis to children grades K-12. Families can also enjoy refreshments, children’s activity booths, a bounce house, a visit from the Rascals Mascot and free hair-cuts. Health plan information and information on area health services will be distributed to all attendees.
“We understand that many families struggle to provide even the most basic needs, especially around the back to school season,” said Steve Martinez, VP of Development at Crider Health Center. “We are very excited to have gained participation from so many of our community partners to make this event possible a second year.”
